Sustainable traffic is bearable for people and the environment. New Mobility is a "free way" for all. No more traffic jams and time loss - more life, more future.

The halving of motorised road traffic does not stop people driving for "pleasure". Much traffic is because of societal structures that have developed in the last two centuries. This growth cannot continue, for simple environmental reasons.

For instance, climate change, up to a third caused by traffic exhaust gases (carbon dioxide and ozone):

The greenhouse effect leads to global warming and climate change. To halt the greenhouse effect the emissions of greenhouse gases must be reduced to one fifth of the present levels.

Greenhouse gases are partially a result of our excessive use of fossil energy. The chart compares the annual energy use per person in some countries.

The below table shows the increase in world population and world energy use over the last 250 and 140 years. The circular graph shows the contribution of the major energy sources: Kernenergie = Nuclear power; Wasserkraft = Hydo power (dams); Erdöl = Oil; Erdgas = natural gas; Kohle = coal.

"Sustainability" is a keyword of our time. This decade may be decisive for the future of our children.

Motorised road traffic is unhealthy and dangerous (for people and hedgehogs), noisy, expensive, and resource depleting. Exhaust gases are a major factor in air pollution, acid rain, and global warming and climate change. Roads cut through communities and landscape. Space is limited. We have run out of space, in populated areas as well as in the countryside.
The below links represent two examples of road traffic effects.

For male adults aged between 15 and 44 road accidents are the main cause of death. This is one of several stark findings of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies' World Disasters Report 1998. The car has claimed an estimated 30 million lives in the last hundred years. The first pedestrian death occurred in 1896; first driver killed in 1898. By 1990, with at least 500,000 people being killed annually, traffic accidents were acknowledged to be the world's ninth biggest killer.
