ecoglobe description (project Wellington)
IN THE YEAR 2000 (???):
Wellington, your capital, is proud to present New Zealand's
ecoglobe

ecoglobe is your world, with a diameter of 20 metres, filled with highly interactive displays about New Zealand and our place in the global environment. ecoglobe informs us about the local and global ecology - the balances between human activities and nature. Slowly revolving, ecoglobe shows different views of New Zealand and the Earth's continents.

... ecoglobe Kauri

You enter ecoglobe through the trunk of our national tree, the Kauri, a symbol of strength and longevity. Circular stairs and an elevator for the handicapped take you up to the center of our globe. At a level of ten metres you exit the Kauri trunk and find yourself back home under its shady crown. Through our well-known Aotearoa-New Zealand scenery we step into the world environment and learn about sustainability, that is our human impact on the Earth. Exciting interactive exhibits explain current issues such as energy-speed-power, biodiversity-genetic engineering-pesticides, and many more. Pathways along the ecoglobe'swalls lead to different levels of exhibition. You visit the skies and learn about climate change and the ozone layer. At the lower level you find the world beneath us, with its mineral resources and water life.

Current environmental developments are explained with their interconnected impacts in all aspects of our lives and nature. The issues are presented in clear language and with vivid imagery. The information is based on the highest standard of factual ecologic and economic knowledge, and prepared in cooperation with renowned and absolutely independent scientists. You find questions and worries displayed and translated into visions of real solutions.
