ecoglobe also wonders whether the people who decided to make,
and now to use shells with depleted uranium in the Balkan war,
really understand what they are doing. Would they still take the
same decisions if they would know the details?

The radioactive material was among the toxic substances emitted after
an Israeli cargo jet had crashed into an apartment building in Amsterdam
in 1992. Forty-three people died in the accident and many residents and
rescuers suffer chronic health problems since. One may wonder for what
purpose the jet apparently carried depleted uranium.
