important for organic agriculture and horticulture?

"what could be more organic than DNA?"

... and a reaction from a citizen:
"This comment shows complete ignorance of the
philosophy underlying organics, and is at a similar level of
ignorance of the statement how can organics be chemical free
farming when everything is made of chemicals. In his statement Mike
Gale demonstrates his ignorance in that organics is based on a
systems approach not a chemical one."

"Maybe the rest of us should refuse to eat vegetables that
have had sewage sludge put on them"
ref. org1
|
"This is a complete straw man argument. No producer is allowed to put sewage sludge on crops
destined for human consumption as this is a basic health no no. When and if sewage sludge is
used by organic farmers on non human food crop land its processing and application is
considerably more strictly controlled than when non-organic farmers use it, in that it has to be
properly composted/fermented to ensure that there are no rapid leaching of nutrients, and that
pathogens levels are reduced, also the level of contaminates such as toxic chemicals and heavy
metals are restricted. This process also reduces the smell. Spreading of any organic manure on
an organic holding should not produce any of the ‘bad’ smells commonly associated with
spreading raw or partially decomposed anaerobic dead organic matter."
