... to co-leaders to Jeanette Fitzsimons, Rod Donald and her team!

The victory in the Coromandel electorate means Ms Fitzsimons is believed to be the world's first Green MP to win a First Past the Post election for a green party worldwide.

This morning early all national votes were counted, bringing the Greens' share of the vote to 5.2 per cent.

The Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand will now have 7 MPs in the 120 seat parliament.

The Labour Party looses one seat. The new government to be sworn in today will be a minority government based upon 59 Labour and Alliance MPs. The Greens will continue to to support the coalition on supply and confidence.

We congratulate our new Prime Minister Helen Clark and the Deputy Prime Minister Jim Anderton with their success.

We believe that the Labour-Alliance coalition, with the support of the Greens will make a significant positive difference for the environment.
